Alchemy

Alchemy is the creation of potions. While alchemists are the best at using the skill, anyone can learn. To simplify alchemy, it is the equivalent of magical chemistry. To begin, one needs an alchemist set. These sets include a burner, potion bottles, and various tools to help break down materials. The idea is to use mana mix and combine it with other things to create an effect. For example, the common catalyst for many aspiring alchemists is mana grass. You turn on the burner, add water, and put in the grass. While the grass will soon fade, mana will still be in the bottle. Now it is possible to create various potions depending on what's added. For the sake of the example, let's add boar meat. After adding it in and waiting, the mana combines with the boar meat and becomes a health potion.   The potency of potions depends on the person's skill in alchemy and the materials used to make them. Someone with more knowledge and experience can make a better potion with low-grade ingredients. Compared to someone with high-grade materials and no skill. Progressing in the field of alchemy can lead to more alchemical knowledge, better potion craft, and more, depending on the practitioner.

Utility

Potions have a wide variety of effects since they end up replicating magic. Potions can recover mana, and health, give stat bonuses or statuses, and damage. Considering how long alchemy has been around, there's typically a potion effect for a common need. Although, some people design their recipes and keep them to themselves.

Manufacturing

Manufacturing potions come in two parts. The first part is gathering the materials, and the second part is creating. Gathering can be the most dangerous part depending on the ingredients needed. The creation of potions is simple as long as you have a supply. What ends up happening is there's a dedicated gatherer and alchemist.

Social Impact

Once alchemy became widespread, it revolutionized everything. People no longer needed to rush to the doctor for minor wounds, and those who were not proficient in magic had a way to utilize magic-like effects. Alchemists have become the suppliers to the needs of thousands and are respected individuals in society. However, they have become more common and have lost some of their earned respect. Besides that, some uneducated have fallen victim to tricksters and have had their money swindled from under them.
Inventor(s)
There have been several people who claimed to be responsible for the creation of alchemy. However, because vast number, no one is too sure who the first alchemist was.
Access & Availability
The alchemy skill is accessible to all who visit the library and pick up the book. Purchasing an alchemist set will cost money, but there's one available to the public if you're short on gold pieces. Another issue is materials. It could become you're trying your fighting other mana grass with another alchemist, or someone killed all the boars in the area. In this event, the local market has the materials you need, usually the common ones.
Complexity
The complexity of alchemy all stems from the potion and the alchemist. Some recipes have only two ingredients, while others could need over a dozen. Some recipes might need easy-to-find materials, whereas something might need an item from a boss. The complexities are also dependent on how in-depth the alchemist wants to go. They could put the materials into a bottle without thinking, or they can be cleaned, cut, and styled. Something like changing the type of glass can even affect the potion. The creator's magical affinity can also affect things.
Discovery
The discovery of alchemy seems linked to races that don't have any natural abilities of their own. Humans seem to be the main contributors at the beginning, then races like elves who have an affinity for nature help cultivate the art.
