Kobold

Basic Information

Anatomy

Bipedal Humaniod Reptile. Cold-blooded with a semi-prehensile tail. Rare occasions they have wings.

Genetics and Reproduction

Females typically lay 3-8 eggs and the male then excretes his genetic material onto the eggs through glands at the base of the tail. These glands are typically 3-4 cm. Males can have up to three of them but typically 2 are most common.
The eggs are about baseball sized and have a soft veiny shell of a blue/purple hue. They are buried by the female after fertilization and left to fend for themselves.

Growth Rate & Stages

5 months in egg. 7 months as a youth, reaching adulthood at 30 months, Middle Age at 90 months, and death of age at 12 years give or take some kobolds age oddly and have been known to reach 25 years, about one in a hundred age like this and are typically marked by much less prominent horns and a barbed tail.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Omnivorous, prefer meat and insects.

Biological Cycle

Females at about 8-10 months old enter an egglaying mood every 5-8 months until they reach 70-90 months of age. If eggs are laid without a male nearby the female with soon become overcome with an urge to eat them. If a rival female of egglaying age finds another females fertilized eggs she will also get this urge. Male glands activate between 13-16 months and deactivate at a rate of one gland roughly every twenty months. So triglanular kobolds can fertilize at as old as 76-80 months.
