calantheles story

she waited... worried about what her father was going to say or do. fiddleing with her fingers the horrible thought popped in her head, what would happen to him, the love of her life . not being of royal blood, he could be killed for what happened. her father calls people like him expendable, losing such people would not effect the kingdom in ways that matter. but losing him would effect her in ways she knows would matter. she hoped that her father would think about her feelings before making a decision. a thump sounded from the other side of the door. her head popped up as her heart beated faster with every thump that sounded. the door swung open and there stood a dark haired man with a long beard, scruffy eyebrows and deep eyes that sunk beneath them. a scoul appeared on his face.the young girl stood up with confidence and looked her father dead in the eye. he stood aside, leaving an opening in the door-way, most obvious for her to enter into the room. she cautiously walked forward and entered the room. gathering courage she turned around and was about to speak...but was cut off. "Calanthele, I have decided that...." she could only imagine what he was going to say, he was going to kill the young boy she loved, he was going to kill her. but what he said never crossed her mind, it was unexpected. " i have decided, you and the young sir Barklay Longmireson shall be married at the best oportunity." she never thought he would say that, this was her dream that she knew could never be reality, and now, soon it will be. " now there is the problem of him not being royal blood" her father continued, " but my advisors are working on a believable story to tell the kingdom and our allies. no one shall ever have to know of this disgrace. and once you two are married no questions will be asked, and if we are succsesful there will be no suspicions." the bit about disgrace made her a little bit mad, but she knew better than to speak up about it. she decided to revel in her happiness. " when will the marriage be, sir" she said politly. " we can't rush it or it will be suspicious. the annoucment will be tomorrow, the engagmeant party will be a week after, and the wedding 3 days after that. it has to be done qiuckly as possible." a week and a half and i will be married, she thought. she was happy. " you are excused." her father said. she walked passed him and stopped... turned around and said. " father, i am sorry, i..i..i know this is a disapointment to you, but...." " there is no "but" Calanthele, this is a disapointment and a disgrace. not just to me but to the whole kingdom. now you may go." he said. she hated when he called her by that name. she hung her head and bowed in respect, which she didn't have much of for him. she turned and left. she knew just where she wanted to be and who she wanted to be with in this moment. so she ran to him.   the day had come, perhaps the best and most important day of her life.she held a boqueatt of white roses and butttercups. a long veil that dragged at least five feet behind her and crown on her head with a white pearl in the middle of it. she wore a white dress with gold trimming. she stood infront of the mirror and gazed at herself, flattening out any wrinkles she saw with her hand. a man appeared behind her. she saw him in the reflection, her father. " you look beautiful." he said. " thank you." she turned around and looked at him. he stared her eyes, so long that it looked as if he was being put in a trance. he blinked and shook his head. a slight smile came over his face. " your eyes.... your mother, ahem you have your mothers eyes." he cleared his throat and left the room. she was stunned, he rarely ever mentioned her mother, infact this might be the first time he has even said anything about her in over 5 years. she began to think of her mother, wondering how she would react to the incident that occured. she quickly got over the thought. no point in thinking of a mother that she barely even knew and didnt know much about. infact her maid-servant that she has known since she was 5 was more of a mother to her, perhaps the only constant mother figure she has ever had. her maid walked in anouncing that it was almost time. for some reason she started to feel nervous, she didn't know why. she knew that she loved Barklay and didn't doubt his love for her. so she pushed though's thoughts away and focused on trying not to trip down the isle way.   the doors swung open revealing at least 500 people standing on both sides of the isle. she knew maybe 10 of the people. she gave a smile to the crowds and a nod to some of the high officials that she recognized.
