Culture
Shared customary codes and values
Just as Zajoura bonded with Kuni, it seems that in Sobdulhi culture, one is expected to bond with an animal from birth and hatching, as it is believed that synchronised maturity will enable the two to bond with one another.
Average technological level
While seen as primitive in many respects by most, it is believed that steel may actually have originated in these lands or somewhere else on coastal Ikr through mixing iron with organic material. They did not develop quenching until quite recently, but their development here first tells us much about the wonders of such isolated lands.
Common Dress code
Using chitin-leather from native bugbeast fauna, they use armour often as well as the fabrics derived from spiders found in the jungles, or crops grown around the coasts, presumably ones not found in the Forbidden Isles.
Coming of Age Rites
Men are expected to hunt and be scarred by a kishara to show their strength and immunity to pain, while women undergo a piercing of their ears to show they too are prepared to undergo pain for the greater good.
Common Taboos
To enslave other humans is considered unforgivable in Sobdulhi society, as is violating guest-right.
Ideals
Beauty Ideals
For men, Sobdulhi culture desires the pierce their bodies with a sharp object, particularly the teeth of a local predator known as the Kishara, which every boy is desired to kill in order to become a man. Large ears and eyes are traditionally seen as attractive traits, is as an athletic build.
For women, beauty is defined by being tall and with a lean build, in contrast to the farrier and shorter beauty standard of neighbouring Nuda, as in Sobdulhi society, militarism and ability to fight are valued regardless of gender due to the armoured and tentacled fauna that dwell on the jungles of Ikr.
Gender Ideals
In Sobdulhi society, three genders exist as well as men and women, these being Kya, who are androgynous individuals of either sex, Lama, who are eunuch males who serve a priestly role, and most rarely Osomba, individuals born with unusual or ambiguous genitalia.
