Elves - Outdated

History:

Elves are a diasporic and near extinct people, estimates across the known continents would say about 200,000 elves are currently alive. In the centuries after the Age of Conquest the nations and empires of Elf-kind have collapsed and scattered, the majority of elves now live amongst or under human communities as wanderers or vagabonds in search of community and safe harbor. However, such is rare, some enclaves of Elven towns still exist within Avis where they are persecuted and attacked by Leonese inquisitors. In the past Elves lived in strictly matriarchal society with High Queens or Empresses ruling their subjects. Female elves often did not fight in war, though when they did they were considerably powerful users of the Wyrd and capable of great support and destruction. Male elves were the bulk of the military as the most talented archers and swordsmen in the world. Still today, elves who survived the Age of Conquest are incredibly fearsome fighters, with only few exceptions they are without equal in prowess.

Today most elves are members of diasporic and nomadic groups or live on their own making a living without ever meeting another member of their kind. The last bastion of Elven kind is within the forested principality of Avis though the majority of its citizens are not elven.

Description:

Slender and effeminate appearing humans with ears ranging from 8in (20cm) to 16in (40cm). Their features are angular and sharp with small turned up noses and delicate features. They are universally beautiful with symmetrical facial features, lack of blemishes or sickness that humans contract, and a lithe slender body. Nearly all societies of elves promote long hair that is braided or well cared for, as the length of hair displays the age of eternally lived elves. They have extremely low fertility rates both due to disinterest amongst one another if there's an age gap of more than five to ten years, as well as extremely long pregnancy terms.
  • Males are typically taller than women though not much so, and have androgynous features matching the idealized beauty of female elves. They are slightly more muscular though their frame does not show excessive muscles.
  • Women in contrast are clearly identifiable with their bust, where a male elf is flat like a human. The female elf is typically well endowed. Pregnancy lasts seven years in Elven women, however they are capable of bearing hybrid offspring with humans these half-elves are infertile, but have significantly faster gestation of only 10 months.
  • Elves reproduce consensually. Both partners must agree and prepare to have a child before the act occurs. This leads to extremely low birth rates given their inclination to put off matters for centuries.

    Behavior & Notable Oddities:

Considered by all to be vain and arrogant all elven peoples have some degree of narcissism. Disconnected with their current state in the world; elves believe themselves to be superior due to their natural and uncorrupting innate magical abilities, their immortal lifespans, and their perceived beauty amongst all races. Despite this their reality has led to sweeping nihilism throughout their race with many believing the Elven peoples will not exist in the world in a thousand more years. They find reproducing with those of significant difference in age, amongst their own race, to be abhorrent and degenerate.

The eldest of elves, surpassing a millennium of life often sleep for decades at a time. The typical elf under 1,000 years of age only requires four hours of sleep a day. They are extremely long term thinkers and put off activities or personal goal for decades or centuries with little worry.

    Religion

Elven religion does not have an afterlife. They believe that the mundane world is all there is for them, given their exceptional long lives. This makes the typical elf extremely risk adverse, not wishing to endanger themselves with disease or violence. There are a multitude of elven gods, though they are all natural spirits and beings that exist within and of the material world.
