Thimble Hollow
Thimble Hollow is a city built upon the back of a colossal crab. The beast is a hermit crab that roams across the southern sahel in a circular migration path. Currently, the crab's shell is a large castle from before the Fall, which was once known as Castle Brightbuck. It travels to rivers until they dry out with the season stopping at any sufficient watering hole or mud patch to do some filter feeding. The migration route begins and ends at Lake Oto, where it filters the incoming floodwaters during the rainy season. As the dry season begins, Thimble Hollow moves north to follow the cycle of the rains, and to avoid competition from beasts gathering at the lake shore.
Since Thimble Hollow was large enough to build a home upon, it has had seven molts, each of which required a new shell to call home. When the crab was first used as shelter from the grass, it was still using natural materials to protect its soft abdomen. This soft and flexible tail curls around everything it can inside a structure, and exudes a type of glue to adhere to core parts of architecture. As it grew, it needed to start using human structures for protection. The people of Thimble Hollow estimate that they still have a few years before the crab molts again, as there is still space to move around the inside of the castle, and the spiral staircase that serves as the main anchor point for the tail. When that area of Castle Brightbuck is crowded out, the people know they will need to be ready to move again.
