Sibriil
Doom-bringer, Dark Lord, World-Ender. This dark druid caused the apocalypse that nearly wiped out every living animal in Rulainn. The people who could have provided insight to his motives perished hundreds, some even thousands, of years ago. For current historians, most of what is known about Sibriil is that he successfully united many warring nations of goblin races, and led them to war against the lineages of the wild and of men. Along the warpath, he had a talent for awakening dormant monsters and turning docile creatures into raging beasts, tearing apart civilized lands indiscriminately. Sibriil formed a rivalry with three talented warriors, who brought together humanoid nations and formed a resistance to his destruction.
On the final day of written history, Sibriil was performing a ritual that would end all sentient life, when he was confronted by the three heroes in a final battle. At a stone circle built over a convergence of ley lines outside Regenne, he fought to complete his spell. At the culmination of the ritual, he was delayed just long enough for the stars to shift out of position, causing the ritual to fail and sending an enormous surge of energy through the ley lines. The backlash burned out the mystical lines and sent waves of tainted magic throughout, blanketing the world in a haze of corruption.
