Session 13: Trial and Errors

General Summary

The party has (almost) finished the first room. They must pass a group DC 13 Athletics check to clear the remaining rubble. Each failure is ½ hour of work.
  The second room is a long corridor with several square pit traps, with an eerie statue at the far end. As the characters get closer to the statue, the eyes glow brighter red with an unnerving intensity, throwing the statue's visage into terrifying, shadowed contrast.
  The pit traps are only visible with a light source. They are slick from the lamprey-like oozes in the bottoms, requiring DC 15 Acrobatics checks to stay upright, otherwise the characters may find themselves sliding forward into the next one, or backwards if they haven't gained forward momentum, falling prone at the bottom of a pit. As they approach the statue, starting your turn or moving into a space within 30 ft triggers a Wisdom Save, DC 14, on a failed save inflicting the Fear effect. Sabotaging the statue ends the fear effect, but activates animated chains that attempt to ensnare characters and dangle them in the pit traps. Each pit has 2 animated chains, with a reach of 10 ft. Each chain makes 1 attack, +4 to hit. On a hit, the target is restrained. If both chains from a pit hit, the chains pull the character above the pit so their feet are in the ooze below. Chains have an AC of 17, HP of 25, and are immune to piercing and psychic damage.
  The next room is a simple tunnel, with slightly rounded corners. After everyone has moved forward 10 feet, a marble that takes up all but 1 inch from each wall drops from a hole in the ceiling and starts slowly rolling to the other end, which has molten lava for the last stretch. The room turns a corner at the far end, with some solid platforms that can be jumped to. The next room has a snake counting a pile of coins. This is a Snake With a Hundred Mage Hands, from the Tome of Beasts. _____________________________________________________________________
 
  The party managed to cross the second room after a great deal of time. They got many of the Dipsas attached to their legs, broke the statue and Khashayar got captured by the chains. They eventualy broke him out and moved on to the next room. With Steps ahead of most of the party and Visayan's flight, they had little to no trouble escaping around the corner from the marble. When it shattered, two of the party passed their saves, and the full damage was only 17. They moved into the room with the Snake With a Hundred Mage Hands, and Khashayar initiated the encounter with a bribe of 18 gold. After some negotiation, they party agreed to take the snake with them, if he would open the door to the next room. He did so, and now the party waits for the final encounter of the Temple of Mamuk, after finishing a long rest.
