The Branded Hands
Formed by a Pair of Goblins after their encounter with a group of adventures the Branded hand comprised mostly of Goblins with the odd other creature of orcish descent intermingled within.
During the encounter a Goblin who had not been given his own name was given the name "Phillip" by one of his captors. Phillip saw many of his kin slain by the adventuring party and was deeply afraid of what his kin would do on finding out he had been helping his captors. In a move both cruel in its execution and consequences, the wizard of the group branded Phillip and the other goblin they didn't name by burning a silver coin in a campfire and making him hold it.
The party released Phillip and his new companion, handed them 10 gold pieces and left to slay more Goblins.
Phillip and his companion ran deep into the woods and formed the Branded hands, as each of their members went through the same ritual of holding a silver coin after it had been heated.
after finding other wandering goblins, those weaker or cast out by their own clans, Phillip formed his own horde and began to build quite the force. This force of Goblins was ultimately to raid and sack Lurians Wake. Phillip, who uncharacteristically for a Goblin, led the attack from the front, was mortally wounded in the fight and named one of his best warriors Phillip, the clan's Booyagh then slew Phillip in his death-bed and named the new successor "Phillip The Branded hand". This tradition has continued to this day with several Phillips leading the Branded hands through various success and failures.
Composition
Structure
The Leader of the Branded Hands is always known by the name "Phillip" despite what his previous name was. His second always rescinds any name they may have had and serves as both bodyguard and advisor. outside of these two there is little other structure as the raiding parties are often poorly organized groupings put together by Phillip or his second.
Tactics
Typically the Branded Hand relies on stealth and surprise to acheive its goals. Once a fight has been joined it is quickly determined to be going for or against the branded hands.
If the battle is going for the Goblinoids they will press harder, should they end up on the losing end they will instead cut their losses and retreat.
