Southwest Region: Balmali Stonedwellers
The Stonedwellers, or “Kings of the Castle” as they are mockingly called by their cousins, occupy an ancient city with strange architecture and structures of unknown function. It is assumed that this was a home to gods before they were chased out of the world. The city sits on the shore of the Simmering Sea and is very humid, every part of the city overgrown with vines or moss. Beneath it is a complex whose purpose no one has been able to understand, and whose mazes remain mostly unexplored. Those who have ventured much beyond one of the entry points have not returned. Although the city provides the Kings with security and found artifacts, they have not established a particularly sophisticated culture within it, setting out to hunt every day and bringing their bounty back to the city for sacrifice and feasting. The Stonedwellers are cannibals.
