North Region: Wotenkin Clans
The Wotenkin people live nearly the same as the Chaels, just further north for the most part, with fewer stable kingdoms and more unstable warlords. Like Chaels, Wotenkin communities integrate Humans and Elves to a degree. The inland Wotenkin inhabit the mountains up to the edge of the Giantish and Dwarvish domains separating the western range from the Vale of Kale. The seaside Wotenkin mostly live by raiding the Chellish domains to the south and the Kingdom of Cabbage to the northeast.

Structure
Like their Chellish neighbours, the Wotenkin elect their chiefs and monarchs. Genealogy is unimportant and battle prowess is the supreme consideration. Although Wotenkin leaders are not expected to be eloquent, they must still be charismatic especially as the voting body consists of all the warriors who would be ruled, not just powerful lords. When it is time to choose or confirm a leader, all the warriors in the realm are called together for a massive convention. The results of an election may not be contested, so anyone who wants to dual for the position must declare the challenge before voting takes place, and combat between candidates is usually a standard part of a leadership convention. Most Wotenkin clans and kingdoms expect the blessing of a Votary, Witch, or Oracle to finalise the crowning, but if the leader was elected by a majority, the blessing is automatic. If however an election leads to rifts between factions, the clergy may require additional contests or appoint an Elder as interim leader until a consensus can be negotiated. It is considered an invitation to civil war to crown a leader who does not have the support of over half the warriors.
