The rain was a relentless drum against the cracked pavement, becoming white noise as it struck the walls of the East End buildings. Neon glowed behind veils of cascading water, casting flickering reflections on puddles that covered the narrow, debris-strewn alley. The smell of oil, wet metal, and something chemical hung heavy in the air. Mara crouched behind a stack of battered crates, clutching her worn-out teddy bear close to her chest. Her small fingers trembled as she stared at the red splatter covering the fur of the animal in her hands. Her 10-year-old mind mimicked the storm around her, as it spun out, whirling with the questions she couldn't answer. Why had they come? Why had they taken everything? Why wouldn't daddy get up?It was a cold, stormy night in April, when Mara's parents were killed, in front of her. Born to Matteo and Luisa Delgadillo, her father was a prominent leader in the underground tech market during the Time of the Red. Her mother, Luisa had been a factory lineman for a corpo that produced high-end limb replacements during the 2020's. Together, they had opened a modest shop in Houston's lower East End. Operation Area: Mara primarily operates in the tunnels under Houston and salvage zones around the city, especially around the Flooded neighborhoods, Bayou waterways, and underground salvage markets. She’s often found near forgotten access points, abandoned infrastructure, or underground repair hubs.
