SE05 : EP04 - Dapplewing Manor

The students gather around the table where the little frogs are gathered. Bree Greenbottom exclaims that frogs are just the best. She had organized the students into racing them. No, a frog race is more about keeping the hoppers going the right was more than speed. They have a tendency to bound in odd directions without proper coaching.   Zanther rushes in proclaiming "I found them!" He opens a small box with tiny costumes. They seem to form fit the frogs through some bit of magic. As students come forward to coach the next round of races they choose a costume. Warren examines the lot and takes the first pick, equipping his racer with a small saddle. Greta, ever competitive jumps in a throws a ballerina tutu on her frog. Finding a cute set of silk ball robes Merrit joins the competitors. Mercy talks to her frog through magic and arranges for them to wear a top hat and cape.   After the other students set bets with Bree they find the prize purse to be around 30 gold. With the stakes set the race begins. Through the cheers and jeers, the coaches coax the little hoopers down the lines painted on the table. The straighter they go, the more their leap cuts the distance to the finish line. Soon after the start, the little ballerina goes sideways. Great fumes at it but in never really gets back on course. The remaining three keep moving forward. The saddled frog starts matching the cadence Warren taps out and in a burst takes a big lead. As the other two stay neck and neck, Warren's little horse crosses the finish line. The room bursts with energy. Bree starts rolling out the bets. Warren counts the purse. Everybody starts talking about the surprisingly fun spectacle.   But the little frog's eyes glaze over with a red film. While no one is particularly looking they start growing, belching thin ribbons of black oil as they do. By the time Zanther shouts they are larger than house cats. By the time the party draws their weapons they at nearly four feet long, and hostile.   Gaint frogs attack, leaping at the students around the room. Chairs spill over and the racing table is split in two. Warren starts to take a swing at them. Merrit whispers an incantation. One of the beasts lashes a tongue out and drags Great most of the way into its maw. Bree wacks on with a shillelagh. Lionel pulls a large mechanical syringe and uses it to grease the floor causing one of them to splutter and loos its footing. It's a chaotic mess as the party scrambles to take control of the situation. As Olivier strikes, for instance, the creature there is a strange negation to there the damage. All the party's blows hit softly, they are hitting but not as hard and piercing as they would expect. In fact, once the frogs are injured they deflate back to normal size. Once Warren does this to the once that engulfed great she rolls out onto the floor caked in drool. Each of the party members gets hits in as they dispatch them one by one.
