Magic & Divine Intervention
Honarth is a science fiction RPG setting, and as such, magic and divine intervention do not play a role in the world. However, this does not mean that there is no room for metaphysical powers or beliefs in the game. This guideline will provide information on how magic and divine intervention are handled in the Honarth setting and how players and game masters can incorporate these elements into their gameplay.
Absence of Magic
Magic, in the traditional sense of spellcasting and supernatural abilities, does not exist in Honarth. Instead, players will have to rely on technology, cybernetics, and other forms of advanced science to achieve extraordinary abilities. This does not mean that there is no room for characters with special abilities, but those abilities should be explained and justified through science or technology.Divine Intervention
Deities and godlike beings do not exist in Honarth, and there is no divine intervention in the world. This means that players will not be able to call upon the power of gods or goddesses to aid them in their quests. However, this does not mean that players cannot have religious or spiritual beliefs. Some tribes on Honarth have their own beliefs and practices and players can choose to be a part of them.Metaphysical Powers
While traditional forms of magic are not present in Honarth, players can still have characters with special abilities. However, these abilities must be justified and explained through science, technology, or innate characteristics. For example, a character may have telepathic abilities due to a genetic mutation or a cybernetic implant, or they may have advanced physical abilities due to genetic engineering or cybernetic enhancements.Implications
The absence of magic and divine intervention in Honarth can have a number of implications for gameplay. For one, it means that players will not be able to rely on traditional forms of magic or divine intervention to solve problems or achieve their goals. Instead, they will have to rely on technology, cybernetics, and other forms of advanced science. Additionally, it means that players will have to come up with creative and realistic explanations for their characters' abilities. This absence of magic and divine intervention may seem like a limitation at first glance, but it actually serves to make the setting more focused and immersive. By removing traditional fantasy elements and relying on science and technology, players and game masters can create a more believable and dynamic world. Additionally, it allows for a greater focus on the conflicts and dynamics within the planet, such as conflicts between different corporations, criminal activity, and more. Game Masters should use this guideline to create a believable and consistent experience for the players and encourage them to explore the rich and diverse setting of Honarth.Table of Contents
