Elerium

Elerium: A Resource of the Future

Elerium Stabilization Syringe

Elerium is a rare and precious resource that has been instrumental in advancing science and technology. Although it has been present since the beginning of civilization, its potential has only recently been realized. It is a highly valuable mineral with a wide range of applications in the medical sector and as an energy source for advanced technology.

History of Elerium

Elerium was first discovered before the Great Reset. It is a rare element that is found in trace amounts in the natural environment, with major mineral veins scattered in the depths of the planet. Recent advances in medical technology, specifically by UCARR - Anacorp (formerly known as UCARR before the merger with Anacorp), have led to the widespread use of Elerium in healthcare and medicine, resulting in the significant improvement of the average lifespan and quality of life of people on Honarth.

Corporate Influence

The history of Elerium is closely intertwined with its corporate influence. In the past, large corporations monopolized the production and distribution of Elerium, which allowed them to control the market and keep prices high. However, smaller companies and individuals have entered the market, leading to increased competition, lower prices, and greater availability. Corporate influence over Elerium is still strong, and companies often use it to manipulate the market, keep prices high, and fund their operations.

Mining Elerium

Elerium is mined from the planet using various methods, including surface mining, underground mining, and deep-sea mining. The process of mining Elerium is complex and expensive, and the element is often found in trace amounts or large veins. As a valuable but finite resource, Elerium is becoming increasingly scarce, with new mining locations scouted and developed each year, and other mines abandoned through the centuries. Mining and refining Elerium is a dangerous and expensive process, often done in remote and hazardous locations, leading to a rise in accidents, injuries, and deaths related to the process.

Applications and Effects

Elerium has a variety of applications and effects, making it a versatile and valuable resource. It is used in medicine, robotics, manufacturing, and even illegal drug production.

In Medicine

Elerium is used in the medical field to power a variety of medical devices, such as pacemakers, prosthetics, and artificial organs. Refined Elerium, usually in liquid form, is also used in medicines, including stims and injections or inhalers in vapor form, to create new treatments and therapies.

In Robotics

Elerium is used in robotics to achieve 100% synchronization between the enhanced and the enhanced. It powers robotic arms and legs, as well as a variety of other robotic devices.

In Manufacturing

Elerium is used in the manufacturing process to create new materials and products. It is used to create superconductors, which are used in a variety of industries, from energy production to telecommunications.

Illegal Drugs

Elerium is also used as an illegal drug, with various names and intake methods. Some popular illegal Elerium-based drugs include:
Drug Name Intake Method Effects
Liz Film strip Induces vivid and disturbing hallucinations, highly addictive
Red-Haze Injection Increases aggression, reduces pain sensitivity
Miner's Vesper Vapor Inhaler Provides calmness, heightened focus and mild euphoria
These drugs are highly addictive and dangerous, often causing long-term health problems and addiction.

For Game Masters

Elerium can be a valuable resource in any science fiction or futuristic campaign. Here are some tips and tricks to incorporate elerium into your game:
  1. Create a scarcity of elerium. Make it a rare resource that is only found in certain areas or controlled by certain factions. This can create a sense of competition and tension among your players.
  2. Use elerium as a reward. Let your players mine or obtain elerium as a reward for completing missions or quests. This can motivate them to pursue certain objectives and add an extra layer of challenge to their adventure.
  3. Make elerium dangerous. As mentioned before, elerium mining and refining is a hazardous process. Use this to your advantage by incorporating accidents or disasters related to elerium into your storyline.
  4. Use elerium as a plot device. Elerium can be a powerful tool in the hands of the wrong people. Incorporate elerium into the motives and goals of your villains to create a complex and engaging storyline.

Adventure Hooks

  1. The players are hired by a corporation to retrieve a shipment of elerium that was stolen by a rival company. The rival company is willing to do anything to keep the elerium and the players must navigate dangerous territory to get it back.
  2. The players stumble upon an underground elerium mine that has been taken over by a group of rebels fighting against corporate control. The rebels need the elerium to fund their cause, but the corporation is hot on their trail. The players must decide which side to help or if they want to take the elerium for themselves.
  3. A group of smugglers offers the players a job to transport a shipment of elerium to a buyer in a distant planet. The journey is treacherous and the players must navigate through asteroid fields and pirate territory to make the delivery.
  4. The players discover a hidden lab where a scientist has been experimenting with elerium to create a new, highly addictive drug. The scientist has disappeared and the players must find him before the drug falls into the wrong hands.
  5. The players are hired by a wealthy collector to retrieve a rare piece of elerium that is rumored to have magical properties. The elerium is located in a dangerous, abandoned research facility on a distant planet. The players must navigate through the facility and fight off any dangers that lurk within.
