Videnthoarph

Videnthoarph is a country that is to the east of the Thefka River, ruled by a King who has several dozen nobles underneath him who he grants holds that the barons controls, which tend to grow into cities. Barons also have control over the roads that lead to and from their holds, and so anyone with land abbutting any road pays taxes to the baron who controls the road. Roads between holds are owned jointly by the two barons whose holds they connect, though there are a intracacies involving roads that branch out. All agricultural land is owned by the farmers who work it, who pay taxes to the king and are only required to follow national laws, not those imposed by Barons. Any farmer who does not work the land is required to forfiet it to the king. Anyone who wishes to become a farmer or is a child not set to inherit can buy land either directly from the king, or from a private sale, which are not very common as land is usally inherited. Most of the time, they are to insure that whoever is selling the land doesn't lose it if they are unable or unwilling to keep farming, as it allows them to get something for the land, rather than nothing.    Indocoloite bloodline sorseren are native to the country, and their homemarker, Lake Biel, at the end of the Thoaphkeall branch of the Thefka River, which then flows underground, is within the countries border, having been conqured four hundred odd years ago. The are not considered full citizens of the country, but are forbidden from leaving. They also cannot own land, and are confined to registered districts, which include the land surround Lake Biel and wall off districts in a number of cities, and they are required to register and gain offical permission if they want to leave their district to travel or move, as well as requiring work permits to work anywhere outside the district.       Videnthoarph has a history of aggressive expansion that has led to multiple wars over the years, most recently with Castille, which they more or less won, though losses were heavy on both sides and the peace was reached by negotiation rather than unconditional surrender. That war led to a tentative peace agreement, that both sides full expect will fall apart one day. The treaty is heavily slated landwise in favor of Videnthoarph but offered a very good trade deal as a consolation to Castille with gaurentee that would be no tariffs or import taxes charged on anything coming from there, and there would have free border access.
