Argile

Argile is a small nation that is located along the southern coast of the eastern part of the main continent. The country was formed when five different tribes who had been at war with each others on and off for centuries came together, in part because the king who united them had ancestors from all five of the tribes, which was leveraged as a play for national unity. Three of the five tribes have sorceren as a not-insignificant percentage of the population. Unusually, very little distinction is drawn between sorceren and non-sorceren, with tribe affiliation being more of a consideration.   The kingdom consists of the traditional homelands of five tribes, plus the capital, which had always been in an area that had traded hands between tribes, not far from the eastern edge of the Great Ravine. All of the tribes are east of the main branch of thre Soridar River, whuch has the Brass Bay at its end. The Uppatine people to the north of the Eastern Branch of the river, and east of the Three Brothers, which is a distinctive rocky outcropping. The Delani people live to the south of the Eastern Branch and north of the Great Ravine, and west of where the Eastern Branch curves south. The Kelletin people are found south of thre Great Ravine, west of where the Eastern Branch turns south, north of the ocean. The Tellibe people alive to the west of the Three Brothers and north of the Two Sisters, another distinctive rock formation. Lastly, the Tollimare people live south of the Two sisters and to the east of where the Eastern Branch turns to the south. The captital is just to the west of the Two Sisters, and to the east of where the Eastern Branch turns south. It has always been a bit of a gathering point, and a hub for trade between the tribes, and so it was natural to set the official capital there when the tribes were fully united.   The Great Ravine is a deep crevice in the earth, ranging from 1,500 to 2,000 meters deep and from 10 meters across to 120 meters at it's widest point. Even at it's widest point, the path down is fairly steep, and requires acute strength and balance to navigate. Among the Kelletain people to the south of the Ravine and the Delani people to the north of the Ravine, there were those who could climb down, though it was not regularly done. At the bottom of the pools, there were pools of liquid that was brightly colored but toxic to drink, because they were highly acidic. The Great Ravine and the pools at it's bottom formed the homemarker for the Topaz Bloodline Sorceren.      The current kings Great great grandfather first fully united the tribes. He was of the Tellibe tribe, and he forged a treaty by marrying a woman of the Tollimare tribe, and then, to properly unite all of the tribes, they had three sons, and had each of them marry a woman of a different tribe. The current king's great grandfather was one of them, and his great grandmother was of the Uppitine people. Their oldest son was the current king's grandfather, and he was married to a woman of the Delani tribe. The current kings mother was of the Kelletin tribe. This means that the current king, Isthamel, is decended from all five of the tribes. All of the king's uncles and great uncles were also set up in arranged marriages with powerful families so that their decendents had blood from as many tribes as possible.
