Heart Flies

Their scientific name is: Pectus Edentis Acerbissimus.

Heart Flies are small to tiny flies with 8 stilt-like legs; they have a pattern resembling a broken heart on their abdomen. Their mouths have adapted to piercing through thick layers of skin.

Their hearing is better than humanoids; they can hear every creature's heartbeat, aiding their choice of victim.

The male and female mate for life. When a female is with an egg, they begins to look for the perfect creature to host their eggs. Once a target is selected, the male will distract the target while the female uses its long, sharp legs and mouth to cut into and enter the target without the target knowing. Then, over the course of a few weeks will eat all of the target's chest muscles and organs, leaving the heart for last. They only eat a hole in the side of the heart before laying all of their eggs in the heart's chamber.

They typically drink blood. When the female is ready to lay eggs, she will pick a target to use as a host.

They are smart and aggressive; they have a toxin that will cause a heartbreak-like stinging pain that will cause your heart to stop if left untreated.
