Jinkol's Tartan Gnomes

A tiny magical item from the Elderdays, Jinkol's Tartan Gnomes can align with a creature of sufficient intellect to have fun with energy effects in play.   A creature may seek to align to an individual Tartan Gnome by spending 10 minutes holding the Tartan Gnome in quiet contemplation (i.e. no movement, no actions, no bonus actions, no reactions, no interaction with the world around them) and making a DC 15 intelligence save at the end of the contemplation.   On a failure, the creature takes 2d8 thunder damage that my not be prevented or redirected, and temporarily reduces the creatures maximum hit points until a long rest. No-one may attempt to attune with the Tartan Gnome for 24 hours (the attempted alinger for one year).   On a success, the Tartan Gnome becomes aligned to the creature. It does not take up a regular attunement slot, and a creature may have a maximum number of Elderday Gnomes (e.g. Copper Gnomes, Festoon Gnomes, Jar Gnomes, Metrognomes, Tartan Gnomes, Ticking Gnomes) attuned to them equal to half zis proficiency (rounded down).   The Tartan Gnome stays with the aligned creature for up to one year after which if the time expires, it is destroyed or it has used its maximum number of actions allowed (see descriptions below) the Tartan Gnome vanishes and reforms within one year in a random location within a distance equal to the aligners proficiency x d6 miles   The Tartan Gnome must be within 15" of the creature to be activated.   The creature controlling a Tartan Gnome may activate it by one of two ways equal to a maximum number of times equal to the aligner's proficiency bonus over the one year and may be done a maximum of once per long rest and no more than a number of times equal to the aligned creatures proficiency bonus + two:   Tartan Disruption
  1. Use a reaction to activate the Tartan Gnome and change the energy type of one spell or effect within range of 10" x proficiency from the aligned creature to one of the aligned creature's choosing (excluding force or phnatom energy)
  2. The an area of effect equals a radius of proficiency bonus of aligned creature x 2"
Tartan Indecision
  1. As a bonus action at the start of a round, every creature within range of 5" x proficiency from the aligned creature gains resistance to a number of energy types equal to half proficiency bonus of the aligned creature (maximum five and excludes force and phantom energy damage)
  2. This lasts for a number of rounds equal to the half the aligned creatures proficiency bonus in rounds (rounded down), expiring at the end of the turn
  3. If a creature already has resistance or immunity to an energy type, it uses what ever is the better for the creature
If a gnome aligns with a Jinkol Tartan Gnome, it can activate the Tartan Gnome equal to a number of times = aligned creatures proficiency bonus + five and may choose to select one additional creature within 10" of the effected area
