Jinkol's Jar Gnomes
A tiny magical item from the Elderdays, Jinkol's Jar Gnomes can align with a creature of sufficient intellect to aid in a creature's protection.
A creature may seek to align to an individual Jar Gnome by spending 10 minutes holding the Jar Gnome in quiet contemplation (i.e. no movement, no actions, no bonus actions, no reactions, no interaction with the world around them) and making a DC 15 intelligence save at the end of the contemplation.
On a failure, the creature takes 2d8 radiant damage that my not be prevented or redirected, and temporarily reduces the creatures maximum hit points until a long rest. No-one may attempt to attune with the Jar Gnome for 24 hours (the attempted alinger for one year).
On a success, the Jar Gnome becomes aligned to the creature. It does not take up a regular attunement slot, and a creature may have a maximum number of Elderday Gnomes (e.g. Copper Gnomes, Festoon Gnomes, Jar Gnomes, Metrognomes, Tartan Gnomes, Ticking Gnomes) attuned to them equal to half zis proficiency (rounded down).
The Jar Gnome stays with the aligned creature for up to one year, if it is destroyed or it has used its maximum number of actions allowed (see descriptions below), after which the Jinkol Jar Gnome vanishes and reforms within one year in a random location within a distance equal to the aligners proficiency x d6 miles
The Jar Gnome must be within 15" of the creature to be activated.
The creature aligned with the Jar Gnome must use an action within the first 24 hours of alignment and determine whether it will activate the Fettle Companion or activate the Jinkol Shield/Wellbeing abilities. Once a form is chosen, this is the only form the Jar Gnome can take while aligned to a creature:
Jinkol's Shield
- Use a reaction to break the Jar Gnome and prevent up to 4d6 + 2x creature's proficiency in damage to the aligned creature
- This may be done a maximum of once per long rest and no more than a number of times equal to the aligner's proficiency bonus over the one year
- If a gnome attunes with a Sinkol Jar Gnome, all d6s convert to d8s.
- Use a bonus action to break the Jar Gnome and add up to 6d6 + 3x aligned creature's proficiency in temporary hit points (fades after 24 hours)
- This may be done a maximum of once per long rest and no more than a number of times equal to the aligner's proficiency bonus over the one year
- If a gnome attunes with a Sinkol Jar Gnome, all d6s convert to d8.
- The Jar Gnome transforms into a tiny clockwork construct of shambling wellbeing with AC = 8 + creature's proficiency, HP = 4d4 + 1x creature's proficiency, resistance to all non-force/phantom energy damage, 1x ranged attack 5" reach = creatures proficiency, magical bludgeoning damage = half creatures proficiency + d3, speed = 20", saving throws = creature's saving throws (without proficiency bonus).
- For one year or until destroyed, the Jar Gnome will follow the creature it is aligned to and as long as it is in within creatures proficiency bonus x 10" of the aligner at the end of a long rest, the aligner gains temporary hit points = aligners proficiency bonus +1
- The Jar Gnome takes all actions based on instruction issued by its aligner as a bonus action
- If the Jar Gnome is destroyed or the one year expires, the Jar Gnome reforms within one year in a random location equal to aligners proficiency x d6 miles
- If a gnome aligns with Jar Gnome, temporary hit points can be granted at any time after a long rest as long it is within range, the temporary hit points granted equal proficiency bonus + three, and HP = 4d6 + 1x creature's proficiency bonus and bludgeoning damage = half creatures proficiency bonus +d4
