Maneran
The Maneran people are currently experiencing a change in their culture and structure. Thanks to the efforts of Mira Castellan and her friends, Manera has gone from a monarchy to a republic. With this transition, the ideals of the people have shifted.
Culture
Common Dress code
Maneran culture, both old and modern, favor colorful and elegant clothes. Whether it is formal wear or casual wear, the outfits are often extravagant by many standards. Light, flowy material is often used as opposed to heavier fabrics or pelts. This is due to both lighter fabrics being easier to dye, as well as their comfortability in Manera's moist climates.
Foods & Cuisine
Maneran food is features vegetables are seafood related. True Maneran dishes use local plant life found in or around Lake Ura. The most popular dish is Maneran Stew, which is made up of various acquatic life, such as shrimp, Ura Lake bass or clams.
Common Taboos
All but few Maneran people see Necromancy as a taboo. In general, the people of Manera believe that once a person is laid to rest, they should never be disturbed. Because of this, resurrection is hardly ever performed, and spells like speak with dead are frowned upon. This taboo is the only one shared between old and modern Manera. Other taboos from Old Manera include elven kind associating with half-elfs or humans. As well as frequenting brothels, despite them being legal. Modern taboos, besides necromancy, include displaying or wearing anything with a golden lionhead, or practicing Namism.
Ideals
Beauty Ideals
Old Manera held high elves and triton as the pinnacle of beauty, and all others fell below this. However, recently, ideals of beauty now focus more on the thought of unity and the sea. Individuals who display a sense of belonging are viewed as attractive in contrast to someone who favors individualism. As for physical beauty, people tend to favor traits that remind them of the sea. Blue and black eyes, people with wavy hair, or more rounded noses are held in high regard.
Gender Ideals
While gender played a huge role in Old Maneran culture, with masculinity being synonymous with authority and respect, in modern times the idea that males are naturally superior has dissolved. Although the changes to gender roles has been a slow one, it is an openly accepted one.
