Jason Dimond
Around the start of 8th Grade, April’s friend Jason Dimond asked her out. It seemed sudden, but she went along with it, and the two dated for half a year. Unfortunately, Jason decided to break up with her, and did so at the worst possible time: her Birthday. April was understandably distraught, and would have considered still being friends if he hadn’t chosen her birthday. The two didn’t speak for over a month before they decided to be civil with each other.
Jason knew about April’s family history, and knew that April wanted to live up to the expectations placed on her shoulders. So he told her about suspicious activity that would be perfect for her first foray into crime-fighting. What was waiting for her, however, was an ambush: Jason met her on top of a skyscraper, and tried to fight her. During the fight, however, he let slip the name Twirling Tyrant, a known evil hypnotist. April surmised that Jason had been brainwashed and tried to subdue him so she could help him, but the fight ended with him falling off the skyscraper and to his death. As Baxter said, “It was the only thing that could leave a scar on the girl who can’t be touched.”
A year later, when April got into a fight with the Twirling Tyrant herself, April was furious at her for causing her trauma and hypnotizing her boyfriend. The Twirling Tyrant horrified April with one simple response: She would never use her powers on her own son.
