Hayley Miles

One of the first seven people to become a Superhero, Hayley Miles was more of a publicity stunt, putting a ten-year-old little girl on the team to appeal to the general public and show that Superheroes are nothing to be afraid of. Hayley went all out with the publicity stunt look, giving herself a very pink and purple costume and calling herself the Pink Protector, complimenting her magenta energy projection abilities.   While she very quickly became a very successful marketing icon for the concept of superheroes, she mostly stood on the sidelines while the other six actually fought. When she actually did get involved, everything changed for her. Using telekinesis to lift her upside-down, Mr. Magnificent taunted her, telling her that being a Superhero doesn’t make her a celebrity, but instead makes her a soldier. Telekinetically lifting up a nail, he told her “Let me show you what War is really like.”, before hurling the nail directly into her left eye. She immediately passed out from the pain and terror.   When she finally awoke, two weeks had passed: she had been under heavy anesthesia for most of that time while they completely removed her damaged eye to ensure that the nail couldn’t infect and potentially kill her. Hayley never again wore her costume, but later on in life continued to fight crime in her civilian clothes. Every single time she uses her powers, she mentally relives her encounter with Mr. Magnificent down to the last detail.   Despite no longer being the Pink Protector, Hayley agreed to allow RESC.UE to continue marketing the identity in merchandising, on one iron-clad condition: The character of the Pink Protector should be more than just a cute happy-go-lucky girl fighting crime, but should be a cautionary tale about how your actions have consequences.
