CyberTroopers

Loyalty can be earned, and it can be bought, but it can also be lost. An employee can become disenfranchised with the company. A citizen can speak out against their government. Anyone can become a turncoat. Therefore, when Kyle Kurt decided to build an empire to take over the world, he deduced that true, unwavering loyalty cannot be earned or bought, but can only be built.   CyberTroopers may have been ordinary people at one point in their lives, from all walks of life, but they have had their individuality stripped away from them when converted into cyborg soldiers to act as the Emerald Emperor’s militia. Their robotic forms are derived from Kyle’s own cybernetic augmentations when attempting to cure his inherited Agent Orange symptoms. The first batch of CyberTroopers were similarly sick and/or elderly people who weren’t expected to live long, and volunteered to extend their lifespan, unaware that their minds would become programmed as a result of Kyle’s belief that Free Will is the sworn enemy of World Peace.   Converting the entire planet is a task Kyle knows is an unreasonable expectation, so he had the CyberTroopers destroy as many superheroes as possible, knowing that their very existence represents the idea that not everything in the world falls under his rule. Those who attempt to resist are sometimes killed, but more often than not are rounded up by the CyberTroopers and taken to the Spire to be converted themselves. This shows that the Emerald Emperor respects and admires the skills and ingenuity of his enemies, as the captured insurrectionists are converted into tactical enforcers to command the other units, since they have proven capable of identifying and exploiting weaknesses in his army. As the saying goes, “To defeat your enemy, you have to know them.”   Virginia Raines was the one to name them CyberTroopers, naming them after both the Stormtroopers and Cybermen.
