Adonis

Adonis is the primordial god of the Earth, Metals, Minerals, Harvest, Agriculture, Growth, Shepherds and farmers. Adonis is often called "The Grandfather" as he was the one who gave the seed of Elyiwn to the land, and so gave birth to the gods of the tree.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The symbolic representations of Adonis's church vary slightly, with different regions using different symbols to honor the earth. Those who revere the strength of the soil and its life-giving power represent Grandfather Adonis with a bundle of corn, or another crop appropriate for the locale. Miners use the symbol of a sparkling diamond, shining as if lit by a bright light, to represent the treasures of the earth. All groups recognize the simple shorthand of a single majestic mountain on a field of white, however, and if there is a “universal” symbol of his church, this is it, rendered simply as a tall triangle.

Tenets of Faith

• Do not consort with devils, demons, or other evil creatures that are not of this earth.
• Do not create the undead, or consort with those that do.
• Do not join in physical union with any race not born of the tree of life.
• Do not eat the flesh of any creature not born of the earth; only natural beasts and fowl are appropriate meat for an Adonist.
• Do not sow the land with salt or any other substance that will ruin it for planting.
• Do not waste seed for planting or the seed of your own flesh.
• On the first day of each week, in remembrance that the beasts of the earth came from the same fruits that gave life to the mortal races, eat no meat whatsoever.
• If you have food that you can spare and others are hungry, share.
• If you grow food from the earth, one-tenth of all you grow must be given to those needier than you, unless none are needier.
• If you pull treasures from the earth, two-tenths of all wealth you take from the Earth Father's treasures must be given to the needy, unless none are needier than you.

Holidays

The Harvest. At the end of the Harvest month, the high cleric of the Foundations in the area blesses the crops with the sowing prayer.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Adonis has no divine goals but keeping the wild, the land, and the fruit alive. Nature is its own force and those who try to defy it by burning or changing it to fit them with no regards to eath, will, in the end, die. Nature keeps on living and will not care if you kill it, cut it, destroy it or try to control it. Trees, Animals, Insects, Beats and monsters have only one master, and they live on only one land. Enlil might be the judge of souls and Ishtar the Queen of life, but with nowhere to live there would be no actions to judge or no life at all.
