The Inquisitor
Probably not a saint.
"Please, do be seated. We have much talking to do, yes."
The Character
The Inquisitor is a Witch Hunter, or simply a "Hunter". While fast moving, this character is not that hard hitting unless fully equipped. That said, he is really something to be reckoned with: beside his vital role in clearing the board of Unknown Tiles, he can give it a good try at sniffing the false clues of the Coven, and in a fight is irrepleaceable. He can spin tales and threats like a devil, and will convince any poor prisoner to follow him and be "free". Of course, this is just to throw cannon fodder in the path of the Coven, but fellow Hunters will be forever grateful when a repentant Devil-worshipper will fall to the knives of his former "friends" in lieu of themselves.
Far from being a learned canonist, the kind of cruel man that fills the role of "Inquisitor" is most certainly some pawn that has been swept up in the devastating religious conflicts of his age. Once the unloved but necessary tool of powerful people, he could be an angry foreigner defrocked for petty but egregious sins, a spy deemed useless by some far-off cardinal, or just an emotially-damaged sinner turned wildly and unreasonably repentant-- these are nice examples of the kind of outsider trusted with the dirtiest job among the Prince-Bishop's toadies. Still, the Witch Hunters are lost without an Inquisitor, and would do well to recognize this quickly.

Masteries
These abilities set each Hunter apart from their colleagues -- and make them worthy of the consideration of such a powerful enemy as the Coven.Trial
The Inquisitor has his ways of sniffing what the Coven's up to. He can search the Arcana deck for false clues... but only superficially. The Coven has plans no mortal could possibly unravel with mere cunning.Gaoler
The Inquisitor has the authorization to carry away anybody in the Malefizhaus. He never uses chains: poisonous platitudes and fear work better than brutality. These poor souls are not the merriest companions, but that doesn't bother the Inquisitor. He is very seldom a genial fellow himself.Tactics
Useful in a fight, each Witch Hunter can count on two special abilities to wreak havoc against the minions of the Coven.Redemption
Eager to prove themselves pious, former prisoners throw themselves against Coven minions. They can distract them, sometimes even harm them in the process. Every little bit of help counts.Sadistic
Inquisitors are often so far off the normal human spectrum that actually function better after an insane night of Werwolf-hunting than after a refreshing nap. They regain their Sanity after vanquishing Minion Models.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
