Tsuto
Tsuto Kaijitsu’s life began in secrecy and scandal. The product of an illicit affair between Atsuii Kaijitsu (wife of Sandpoint noble Lonjiku Kaijitsu) and an unnamed elven wanderer, Tsuto’s birth was not just unwelcome—it was a threat to the fragile prestige of the Kaijitsu name.
When the truth of his parentage emerged, Lonjiku, ever the cold traditionalist, refused to acknowledge Tsuto as his son. Rather than raise the half-elf in his household alongside his legitimate daughter Ameiko, Lonjiku arranged for Tsuto to be raised by Ilsoari Gandethus at the Turandarok Academy—a gesture meant more to avoid scandal than provide care. Tsuto grew up surrounded by orphans, constantly reminded of his outsider status.
As a child, he was intelligent, perceptive, and prone to emotional outbursts. The rejection by his family festered in him. His resentment of his father turned to hatred. And though he longed for a bond with his sister Ameiko, even that relationship was complicated. She tried to connect with him over the years, but Tsuto saw her presence in the Kaijitsu manor as a reminder of everything he had been denied.
In his late teens, Tsuto disappeared from Sandpoint. He returned years later with a new, dangerous conviction—and a lover: Nualia Tobyn, thought long dead in the fire that destroyed the old Sandpoint chapel. Nualia, now changed by trauma and twisted religious zeal, had become a worshipper of Lamashtu, the Mother of Monsters. Together, the pair forged plans to punish Sandpoint for its hypocrisies.
On the 30th of Rova, 4707AR, Tsuto sent his sister a cryptic letter, luring her to the Kaijitsu Glassworks—ostensibly to confront their father, Lonjiku, for crimes involving recent goblin raids. But when the Sandpoint Sentinels investigated instead, they uncovered a scene of horror.
The Glassworks had been overrun by goblins. Lonjiku Kaijitsu lay dead—murdered and grotesquely preserved in molten glass.
In the basement, the Sentinels confronted Tsuto. There, he revealed the scope of his hatred and his allegiance to forces bent on Sandpoint’s destruction. His words dripped with contempt, not only for his father but for Sandpoint itself. He had joined Nualia in her goal to burn the town to the ground, seeking to turn it into a sacrifice to Lamashtu.
The Sentinels fought Tsuto in a brutal encounter. Wounded, cornered, and outmatched, Tsuto still refused to surrender. He taunted them, fought with desperation and cruelty—and ultimately fell, killed by a barrage of ice shards summoned by Vannrik. He died with defiance in his eyes and blood on his lips.
After his death, his journal was recovered. It detailed his coordination with Thistletop goblins, his role in stealing Father Tobyn's remains, and disturbing insights into Nualia’s transformation and obsession with removing her "celestial taint" to become a demon. His final writings show a man consumed by bitterness, clinging to a twisted vision of love and vengeance.
For Ameiko, his death is a wound that may never fully heal. She is now the last of her line in Sandpoint, left to rebuild in the wake of a family's complete implosion. Though she survived Tsuto’s betrayal, she carries the scars—physical and emotional.
