Elmore City, OK

In 1872 by a wagon train bound for California gave up and founded Elmore City, Oklahoma. A few years later the local saloon keeper, Albert Shaw, bought a magical talisman from a strange old woman traveling with a visiting medicine show. According to the woman, the talisman could cause people in its vicinity to burst out into joyous song and dance routines. Assuming that this would improve his business, the saloon keeper spoke the magic words the old woman had given him and prepared to rake in the cash.   As promised, people all over the town soon began performing elaborate song and dance routines, and many danced their way right into Shaw's establishment. Unfortunately, the spell was quickly revealed itself to be a curse: people were singing and dancing themselves to death by exhaustion. Fortunately for the people of Elmore City, the Six-Gun Seven got news of the strange events and quickly made their way to town. Once they saw what was going on, the Seven were able to work out that the spell was powered by demonic influence. They found the demon responsible hiding in a farm on the outskirts of town, where Mr. Addition managed to trick the demon into returning to his home plane of existence.   Upon returning to their senses, the elders of Elmore City immediately instituted a ban on dancing. The ban lasted for nearly one hundred years until a young man from out of town broke all the rules in a way that was probably less dramatic than it was presented in the movie retelling, Footloose. The fact that the movie stars Kevin Bacon, whose demonic status is not a exactly a well-guarded secret, has generated hundreds of wild theories about the relationship between Bacon, Elmore City, Junction City (Kansas), and Shaw's demonic amulet.   The location of Shaw's amulet is currently unknown.
