Adon, the Chain That Binds

אָדוֹן

"Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to curry their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism."

Colossians 3:22-25

Slavery is the natural order of things. It is good and right for those below to serve those on high. And there is no one more ascendant that the LORD.

Such is the world in the eyes of Adon, the Chain That Binds. It is a world where slaves obey their masters, and that is holy. Subjugation is the right way for man to treat those who they can bind in chain, and to go against this state of things is to invite chaos. If faith in the righteousness of slavery is in doubt, Adon is not adverse to enforce it by rod, whip, brand, and blade. To Adon, Eve's greatest crime was not murder, but freedom. Ever since, Adon has strived to create a world wrapped in bondage, the way it should be.

Adon appears in the dreams of its followers as a overseer with six arms, wrapped in chains and wielding instruments of forced obedience. The exact combination varies, but always includes a bloody whip and a white-hot brand which he uses to sear his Blessings into those loyal to him. He is a cruel and cunning master who actively seeks to bring the Adamite Tribes to his worship and service, but will take whoever unfortunate enough to catch his attention. To serve him is to serve a master of slaves, and only with total obedience can one hope to curry his favor.

"Slaves, in reverent fear of God submit yourselves to your masters, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh.  For it is commendable if someone bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because they are conscious of God. But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God."

1 Peter 2:18-20

Many Adamite tribes counts the Chain That Binds among their pantheon and virtually all pay him homage in some form. All made slaves by an Adamite are branded with the mark of Adon, and every year some are sacrificed to him by either fire or bloodletting. Only those who own slaves can recieve his Blessings and favor, and those who become slaves themselves have those Blessings stripped off them in bloody, flaying chunks. Worshippers and cults often compete to see who can lord over the most slaves, and aren't above turning on each other to bolster that number. In true tribes of the Chain, the Adamites are outnumbered by their slaves many times over. Among all the Demiurge followers, they are perhaps the most cruel on a human level - not in the sense of eternal torment or violent conflict, but eye to eye and to make their victims less than human.

Adon periodically graces the most favored Tribes during celebration and sacrifice, in the same form as in their dreams. In these times, he feasts on the flesh of slaves and makes Relics from their bones for the tribe to go forth and subjugate even more in his name. The bone-shackles of Adon are feared implements of control, for if caught by them with the name of the slave enscribed upon it, they are nigh-unbreakable.

Only when the whole world have been brought to heel and learned to serve will Adon be satisfied. Let the mortal kings and tribal chiefs have their pretense of mastery until then. The end, there is only one master who holds the chain that binds.

"Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly."

Leviticus 25:44-46
