Academy of Lorsen
The Academy in Lorsen is the largest and most renowed academy in Salternia, and where anyone of noble birth or achieved status will start their further education. Students who show great potential in Lorsen will often be invited to continue their studies at the Imperial Academy, an invitation not a single student has ever refused. This circumstance places the Lorsen Academy and the Imperial Academy in a sort of onesided rivalry. If one's goal is to be someone of name and status in Salternia, attending the academy is a must. Meanwhile, an education at the Imperial Academy only benefits in the wider radius of the empire, and if working in international affairs is one's goal.
Several families, such as the Vankrellens, Arlstaphs, or Gannendars, who frequently antagonise each other over status and prestige in many different fields, will also try to gain the upper hand at sponsoring the academy. Although it has to be recognized that one single donour would never suffice in supporting such a large institution.
The Lorsen Academy also lives off the goodwill of the Emperor, as the Imperial Crown finances them in large capacities, despite having the Imperial Academy to look out for as well.
