The Witches of Dunmark

History

The "Witches of Dunmark" is a legend in reference to the four "daughters" of the Goddess of Witchcraft herself, Veah, sister of Azra. Though like many pre-cataclysm legends the truth has been lost to time and dust, one prevailing legend states that Veah took the four girls as infants and raised them as her own to train them in the ways of dark magic. Other versions of the legend state that she created them from dust, that she took in several of her most devoted worshippers and gave them power, and even that she killed several women and brought them back to life to serve her. In any case, many believe that due to the nature that Veah has been known to posess, the way she acquired her "daughters" is generally thought to have been in an underhanded manner. The truth, however, may never be known.   It is also often believed that this group of witches knew about the cataclysm, and worked to craft a small dimension separate from the Altar Realm that would allow them to live through the cataclysm and into the new world; though nobody knows if their endeavor was a success, as there have only been mere rumours of their appearances in the mountainous Dunmark area.
