Gath Wranric

Gath Wranric

"Many found it difficult to believe an orcish creature such as myself could pick up a pen, let alone pen down words with the skill of a writer; such was thought of me."
— Gath Wranric
Gath Wranric is a historical mythology writer living in Thal. He is the author of the greatly acclaimed volume of books titled "The Forbidden Ones," which document and attempt to justify the existence of the forbidden gods across the new realm.

History

Born and raised in Thal, the half Orc (his mother a Thal-born Elven woman), faced descrimination for his vastly different appearance and his ancestry. He took to writing at a fair age, barely into his teenage years, becoming one of the first and few "non-elves" to attend the Varyleth Family's regal school to hone his craft.

Education

Gath Wranric comes from a highly educated background, having excelled in his early education (partly attributed to his mother's own studiousness and personal encouragement). He is proficient in Elvish and common, having himself aided in the translations of his entire The Forbidden Ones series into each respective language.

Early Education

Wranric attended the schoolhouse of Tusuna in West Makric in Thal, demonstrating considerable academic excellence - so much so that he was essentially promoted to a higher level of education at the age of fifteen.

High Education

Following his graduation, he was offered an academic scholarship at the Royal Varyleth College in Acante, graduating from the college in 1193 at the age of nineteen.

Career

Wranric worked as an editor for a children's book publishing agency in Thal, before retiring from the position in order to pursue his own personal writing career, the very first work of his being the highly acclaimed yet controversial historical book series The Forbidden Ones.   Following the unprecidented success of the first novel in the afformentioned series, Wranric began his own publishing company in 1213, the Wranric Publishing House whose primary focus rested on historical, mythological and political works, primarily concerning Thal and it's vast history.   Even following Gath Wranric's departure from Thal, his company continues to operate as previous.

Accolades

Gath Wranric recieved three writing accolades for The Forbidden Ones, and the series had become so acclaimed by the year 1220 that it was deemed a cultural touchstone, and by many a historian and lore-afficienado, an essential reading. The work was so influential in fact, that the term "Forbidden Ones" became synonymous with the Known World's   His publishing company also went on to release numerous works by various other authors around Thal that recieved acclaim, such as The Gathaalan Verdict: The Political Upheaval of Thal's Tyrannical Ruler, published in 1216.

Controversy

His career later suffered at the hands of the series' infamous eighth volume, only the title of which has been released to the general public; The Forbidden Ones, Volume VIII: Satris, God of Gateways and the Underground. The rest of the volume, though rumoured to have been completed, never made it past the publisher.   The contents of the novel were rumoured to have contained 'severe factual errors', and the Thali Ministry of Culture and Religion deemed that branding this particular volume as "historical fact" was unlawful, and heretical. In addition to this, considering his swift departure from Thal shortly after the controversy surrounding this volume surfaced, many stories began circulating that Wranric had recieved death threats for his depiction of the God of Gateways, and as a result needed to relocate for his own personal safety.
