Brimstone

Brimestone is exceptionally mountainous with towering peaks and deep, lava-filled valleys. Rivers of molten rock run throughout and deep caverns make nests for Lesser Drakes.

Brimstone's history begins in Primordial Hell when the 14 original dragon eggs were laid in -500000 BL. They were placed in a mountain range which frequently had siesimic activity. Molten channels heated their nests. These molten channels were magically imbued to sustain their heat, tied to the life forces of the dragons. In -16442 BL, after The Withering, the dragons hatched, seven female and seven male. The seven female dragons were Andraste, Bethrynn, Velstrid, Mishann, Valnae, Mahla, and Akra. The seven males dragons were Galadrann, Asmodeus, Balasar, Travok, Torain, Ghesh, and Alzan. The female dragons grew to be several times larger than their male counterparts and spent most of theri time sleeping. The male dragons were significantly more active and soon formed a harsh hierarchy with the dominant brother being known as The Dragon King.   The first Dragon King was Galadrann. He sired three eggs, one with Bethryn, one with, Andraste, and one with Mahla. In -247 BL, Balasar killed Galadrann and assumed his position as Dragon King. Balasar sired three eggs, one with Mishann, one with Velstrid, and one with Akra. In 35569 AL, Asmodeus kills Balasar in his sleep and assumes the title of Dragon King but does not sire any eggs.   In the year 200401 AL, the female dragon Valenae, the only female dragon who had yet to lay her egg, decided against accepting Asmodeus as the sire of her child. She left Brimstone and assumed the identity of a demoness, making her way to the Imperial Academy. There she caught Lucifer's attention and he took her into his harem, unaware that she was a dragon. When she became with child, she had him sign a contract stating he would do everything in his power to protect the life of their spawn. Lucifer agreed, determining that it wouldn't be hard. She had a son that she named Drake. It was only after he was weened that she left the harem, revealing herself to be one of the female dragons. Asmodeus became outraged as each female dragon only laid a single egg in their entire life. He was thus denied true offspring.   Bound to protect the infant Drak and unwilling to enter a highly destructive war (which he would ultimately win though the cost would be great) Lucifer agreed to enter a contract with Asmodeus. Under this contract, the Dragon King could request fifty sacrifices of his choosing every ten years. In exchange he would give Lucifer 10 contract-bound lesser dragons (sometimes called Lesser Drakes). These lesser dragons were small (about the size of a city bus) and mostly mindless. They were born when a male dragon paired with a demon. The lesser dragons as a result were usually the offspring of the Dragon King and the sacrifices Lucifer sent to him. The Dragon King subsequently made a point to request princesses ever decade and Lucifer, bound by his own absolute contract, was forced to comply. This contract became known as the Brimstone Contract.
