Mon'toskur
The fearsome mon'toskur stalk the rivers of Miðgarr in dark of night on longships slicked with blood, their amber spotlights searching for any victim to tear apart. ~ a newtling's account of the mon'toskurDespite their fearsome reputation across the realm, it is becoming more and more widely known that the mon'toskur have been maligned by foundling society at large. They are not raiders by choice, but rather slaves of the foul Gorfrosċ, inflicted with a powerful mental subjugation that only they can endure.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Mon'toskur are large bipedal foundlings towering alongside the dverge, standing between seven and nine feet tall - typically with only a foot of variance, the female sex tending to be upwards of a foot taller than the males. Their skin varies from olive grey to forest green hues generally, though there are rare exceptions, with black hair being almost universal. They have only two arms, and their facial features can vary greatly from place to place within Heimr, but a general consistent feature is prominent facial ridges sweeping back into facimiles of horns along with protruding tusks and universal amber eyes.
Capable of projecting golden light from their eyes, the mon'toskur are known for using these spotlights to blind foundlings during their nighttime raids.
Genetics and Reproduction
Mon'toskur are one of the few foundling species that propogates through sexual reproduction, a process that is closely monitored for those still under the tyranny of the Gorfrosċ.
Pregnancy lasts between 4 and 6 months, ending in a live birth of a mon'toskur child that is usually gray and colorless, with soft, malleable brow ridges and no horns.
Growth Rate & Stages
Mon'toskur grow quickly, becoming juveniles within just a few years, reaching adulthood by their eigth winter.
When enslaved, the Gorfrosċ typically mentally ensare mon'toskur children upon birth, maintaining the link and letting the connection grow in strength until they are fit for raiding and protection. If a mon'toskur is lucky, they will usually see six winters of relative "freedom" before they are pulled into the active ranks of constantly controlled raiders. Mon'toskur are rarely lucky.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Mon'toskur, like all of the foundling species that reproduce sexually, require a varied and diverse diet of meats, vegetables, fruits, and grains, if possible. They can however subsist on very little, and blood pudding is a common food produced to keep them on the move when out raiding for the Gorfrosċ.
Behaviour
Some mon'toskur struggle to speak verlik, the prominent language of Myrkviðr, and prefer the language that emerged in the camps they were forced to grow up in as slaves - tuskar. They also universally bear the scars of the servitude to the Gorfrosċ, being generally distrusting of manners, loathe to make eye contact, and incapable of making an indirect request. The gorfrosċ are a petty and faux-polite peoples, and those mon'toskur who acted as internal body guards for gorfrosċ meetings grew to hate all things insincere and laced with double meaning.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities
The mon'toskur are powerful hunters, touched by hands of beasts and moons, with a sense of smell unrivaled among terrestrial foundlings and a natural well of endurance that rivals the fortborn. They are able to track the scents over leagues and across bodies of water if they have a potent enough source to start with.
Their hearing is also exceptional, beaten out only by the Aedharcen. Most find it difficult to surprise a mon'toskur under the best of circumstances.
When a creature nearby is injured, mon'toskur are able to taste the blood in the air as though they were drinking of it.
Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms
The gorfrosċ are foul parasites lurking in the shadows using the mon'toskur as a warrior slave race.
