The Old Folk
The Old Folks' society advanced for thousands of years before the age of Heimland. It is not known where they come from, but some suggest they might have come from Tagaloa or maybe somewhere in the Midlands. They built impressive cities such as Thetmis and Disra, and machines such as Patrick-the-Engine, who can produce energy at a rate of 800 times the speed of light and powers all of Heimland.
They had fancy gadgets such as electronic "tellyfoons" and machines that made things like "Peepzi" and "Koke" and "Pitza". According to legends, they were able to cure cancer, travel to the moon, and made use of the machines to build their massive factories. It is said that Vijaya, a prince from the Tagaloa founded the first nation of the Old Folk.

History
The Old Folk became overconfident in their technology, eventually gaining an almost godlike mastery over sciences from mechanical engineering to nuclear-physics, and began using their technology for destruction rather than the betterment of their species. Fueled by greed and the desire to advance scientific discoveries at any cost, they founded great corporations which became focused primarily on personal profit to such an extent that the world as it was became poisoned by pollution and radiation, byproducts of their endeavors. As a result, most of lands became sterile. From the sterile lands came fierce races such as Indagarians and Surakh. Failing to anticipate the possibility of their own extinction, they made no provision for the maintenance of the technological systems they had put in place to maintain the integrity of the world. Instead, most of their knowledge vanished with them and their works fell into disrepair and ruin. They were however most notable for the fusion of technology and magic, and some say Patrick-the-Engine does not run on fuel but in fact runs on an ancient spell cast by the Folk centuries ago. The first ever technological inventions of the Folk were their Sky-Trains, which they used to arrive on Heimland.
The Old Folk supposedly developed the ability to manipulate the fabric of the multiverse via technology and magic. It is said the Old Folk began using Nuclear-Magic for travel between different times via the various Doors they had built.
One of the long term effects of the Old Folks' negligence was the advent of the several mutant species that currently reside in Heimland, including the Drekkin and Surakh. As mutant species wandered the world, the society of the Old Folk fragmented and most of their knowledge was lost, bringing a 1,000-year Dark Age which endured until the foundation of the Black-Tower. The culmination of their endeavors appears to be the Black-Tower residing at the center of Heimland, which some say they were working on before their disappearance.
The passing of the Old Folk left many technological artifacts in its wake, some remaining fully functional and maintained by the machines.
