Lond Cantineadh
Lond Cantineadh (Imperial Wythian: lit. "wailing fortress-isle") is a small, rocky island in the deep middle of the Mancsflow River, noted by both Valesmen and passing merchants as being unusual given its position and geological difference from the generally low-lying and marshy riverbanks. It is commonly used as a navigational aid, especially during foggy conditions, given the tendency of the rock formations thereupon to create a whistling or "wailing" noise in even a slight breeze given their unique structure.
The island has, over the long centuries, accrued a mythical status among the Valesmen, who believe it is the location where Svarcliste, during his redemption, was forced to fight one of his former dragon comrades who jealously coveted the Autumnvale. The pointed, craggy spire of Lond Cantineadh is where, allegedly, Svarcliste dealt the mortal blow by wrestling and impaling his foe upon the apogee. According to these tales, the wind whistles through the bones- long since hardened into stone- of this ancient enemy in continual remembrance of Svarcliste's defiance and devotion. Variations of the tale also have the island itself being the only visible remnants of an immense Dwarven citadel which commanded the entire river and vale, and which was ruined and sunk using powerful magic during the height of the Dwarven-Draconic wars. Several unique artifacts said to be crafted using materials found on the island, treasured by the families who possess them, have lent some credence to both theories, being fashioned using either lightweight but incredibly strong bone and chitin, or metals of a type not produced in the present-day Autumnvale.
