The Almagest

The Almagest is an different plane of existance that is how all species accomplish interstellar travel. If you want to get from one star system to another “jumping” into the Almagest makes the distance between those two points shorter. A journey that would take many years travelling at the speed of light can be traversed at a leisurely 3,000 MPH (or 4828 kilometers per hour) in about a week or two.   The Almagest is not without its risks. This plane of existance has no Spirit World and any journey longer than two months is nearly gaurenteed to cause a supernatural madness as your soul cries out to reconnect with “Real Space”. The Almagest also has its own native denizens and other natural hazards within it. It is common to break up travel from one system to another by stoping at other systems in a route. In order for a ship to make the jump successfully, it must be far enough away from any object that has more mass than itself. If you are too close to a sun or a planet its gravity might rip the ship in half.   The Almagest is a stange place with where there always seems to be an ambient light of a sickly green color with no decernable source. Stars in Real Space have an 'impression' in the Almagest that is best described as a blue disk. There are no planets, but there are large rock formations simiar to asteroids. This asteroids are usually covered in various strange flora that are usually red or purple in color. Many creatures call the plane home, but they have proven difficult to study. They seem to be able to propel themselves through the vaccum through willpower alone as no known physical method has been found in the very few studies conducted.
