Madan came into being 20 years post interference or Awakening depending on if you ask a follower of Artherox or a follower of Seraph. Artherox created Madan to disrupt the cycle of the natural world. This was due to the desperate conditions the mortals found themselves in. Under the rule of Seraph the plants did not change and thus even as populations of mortals grew explosively the amount of wheat and food produced by the farmers remained the same, as did the products of the beasts tended by the ranchers. In desperation the mortals turned to the natural world beyond the gates of their cities and started hunting. But, the wild beasts and plants were quickly stripped bare as they too were unable to change and keep pace with the needs of the mortals. So Artherox created Madan, a being that would introduce chaos into the natural world and guide the plants, the beasts, and agriculture to evolve to meet the needs of the mortals. From Madan’s influence new trees came into being, harvest grew more bountiful, the rancher’s livestock more productive, and the beasts of the forest more cunning and dangerous. But, not all changes were for the betterment of mortals. Madan also created deep dark forests, tall inhospitable peaks, deserts devoid of all obvious water, and swamps teeming with dangerous predators and poisonous plants.
