Personal history
Roland was born to a very poor Marshlin family. At the age of 5 he lost his mother to a gnoll raid. His whole family would have perished if not for the work of a nearby paladin of Erastil who saved them. Roland never forgot about this paladin and at the age of eight Roland pledged allegiance to the same order. He worked under them and received training for many years until he turned 24. At this time he had serious theological differences with his order (The Woodland Legion) and gave up his title as paladin. He wandered for many years as a fighter for hire (only taking worthy work. At age 40 Roland was close to giving up the life as a hero when he had a dream. An Angel told him to go find a blacksmith worthy who would make him a sword. In doing so he would once again take up the mantle of Paladin, this time as Roland the Kind. Roland did so and begun his reign as a Hero. He accomplished many deeds and after death was post mortem made a saint to Abadar.
