Age of Heroes Historical Summary

A Golden Age

  The Age of Heroes ushered in a time of joy and safety into the world. The Heroes pushed the monsters to the farthest corners of the world, making many new nations and states. For a time all was good and all prospered. Heroes grew stronger and stronger, capable of calling down divine fury at a whim, or bending the laws of reality with a single arcane word. Fearsome warriors could slay beasts singlehandly, and it was at this time at the dragons (powerful arcane beasts) where hunted to near extinction. It was at this time that Heroes Gods such as Cayden and Irori walked the realm.  

The Fall of Heroes

  Only 50 years into the Age of Heroes things begun to take a turn for the worst. With the monsters all but defeated Heroes begun to turn on eachother. They were no longer content to obey the words of god or man but rather declared that it would be they who ruled as kings. Soon adventurers took villages and declared themselves warlords. Heroes vs. heroes conflicts would lay waste to any caught in the cross fire and the world plunged into chaos. The worst offenders where the Arcane. Wizards and Sorcerers declared themselves the new gods of the realm and many gathered enough followers and did such deeds that they ascended to minor gods themselves. The world was in ruin and all seemed lost. Until, that is, the birth of Mordenkainen.  

The Heroes Death

  Mordenkainen was a powerful wizard who looked at the current state of the world with disgust. A former adventure himself, he had retired years earlier to live with wife and family. One day while he was away a battle took place between a well regarded Sorcerer and a young Arcane Upstart. The collateral damage destroyed Mordenkainens village and killed his family instantly. It was when he returned home that Mordenkainen swore to avenge them. He traveled the world in search of 7 disciples, Bigby, Otiluke, Drawmij, Tenser, Nystul, Otto, and Rary. Together they founded The Circle of Eight. Comprised of the Eight most powerful wizards who had ever lived. Together they ended the Age of Heroes and ushered in the Arcane Age.
