Haven

HAVEN is a world abandoned by the gods and held together by magic.  The Devastation, as it has been named, occurred beyond living memory, so little is known about what actually happened.  What remains are fairy tales and horror stories told to children to inspire them to great heights or warn them of real, present dangers.

These stories are most likely fiction and vary widely, but all of them share a few common threads.  The gods are gone, as are their demon and devil counterparts.  Something made them leave or killed them.  That same “something” is what shattered the world and created the portals. The fact that HAVEN still exists, even in its broken state, is inarguably one of the greatest feats of mortal magic, bar none - a self-sustaining magical core around which the broken pieces of a planet rotate in perfect balance.

HAVEN’S present-day, authoritarian hierarchical government has existed for almost 400 years and evolved as a reaction to the harsh, lawless conditions in which surviving mortals found themselves after The Devastation. Though there are those who complain about the imbalance of wealth, no one can deny that life is better under the current ruler, Osimir. Under his leadership, the Guard underwent massive reformations, rehabilitating the overly-aggressive agency as a community aid resource and the Night Guard as portal support.
