Vankari

The Vankari are native to the country of Vankar, with emigre settlements across Finkallas and Thulos since the beginning of the 6th Age.   The Vankari are cousins to the Jiroasi and the Kilthorians and share the penchant for odd coloured hair and eyes that are hues of purple, red and pink.   The Alvarkon Province of the Simitrian Empire where modern day Vankar stands was renowned for the magical apptitude of it's citizens, the number of Alvarki magic users at the height of the Empire was higher than that of the rest of the Empire combined. That magical heritage and lineage continues to this day, and even with the Great Awakening and around 45% of the population manifesting some form of Psionic ability, the tradition of magic still prevails among the Vankari, many children grew up with being able to wield both the powers of the Arcane and the Powers of the Mind.

Naming Traditions

Feminine names

It is tradition for female Vankari to be named after a close friend or cousin of the mother, sometimes even an aunt.

Masculine names

Vankari first born men are always named after the Mother's father and then the second born the Father's Father, unless a sibling on either side has got their first in which case they would name them after grandfathers on either side. This is done to preserve the family name Third born and after are named after close friends of the father.

Family names

Vankari like all Simitrians put their Family name before their given name, in the case of Queen Alestria she is Endaris Alestria Alvanin, this naming tradition can be confusing to most of the People of Findallas but is something they share with the people of Ryochi and Hacuras
