Gnalivar
The Gnalivar or Gnome are the smallest of the goodly races, between two to two and three quarter feet tall, they live in varying sized groups of intermarried families, they can be found around the world, in Forests, the plains, cities, the mountains, anywhere where civilization of any kind can be found, the gnomish people can be found, some groups taking up the life of a barbarian.
There are no surface subraces of the Gnomes, there are just Gnomes who live in a particular place. The Gnomes are just that Gnomes, every gnome anywhere is related to every Gnome everywhere. It may be from thousands of years ago but they are still related, it's why you will hear a Mountain Gnome call a Forest Gnome cousin.
Basic Information
Growth Rate & Stages
Gnomes live around 120-130 years on average, reaching puberty in their twenties, young adulthood in their 30's, middle age in their 70's, and old age in their 100's
Ecology and Habitats
There is no optimal habitat for the Gnome, Gnomes can live absolutely anywhere, I mean anywhere, somebody once found some living in the Falgiro Volcano fields, thriving where nothing thrives.
Additional Information
Social Structure
Gnomish communities are for the most part within other communities but always have their own leaders, who tend to be a council of Elders, who elect a leader from their own, Gnomes respect that their Elders probably know more than them so are best left to deal with the running of things while they do the work that is needed to keep the community thriving.
Every Gnome in a community is related to every other Gnome in the community so they respect their kin, families are normally led by the eldest member of the family, who sits on the council of Elders, and the hierarchy from there goes great great grand parents, great grand parents, grand parents, parents, children.
Until a young Gnome becomes a parent they stay on the bottom rung of their society, it's not been unknown for a Gnome to be old enough to be on the Elder council but because they never had any children stay in that level of child
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Worldwide, everywhere, and we mean everywhere
Average Intelligence
The average gnome is a about 30 IQ points more intelligent than the average human, they tend to be very intelligent people and have been the driving force behind some of the greatest scientific discoveries of the 6 Ages
Civilization and Culture
Gender Ideals
Gnomes believe that every person born is equal and therefore Gnomish women are as likely as men to be in positions of authority within their communities, there is not a great deal of physical difference between the average Gnome male or female, except from the males growing beards and slightly bigger hands and feet so pretty much every Gnome could do the job of every other Gnome given the right training and skill. Every Kharad Gnome serves at least 5 years in the Gnomish Militia for the Kharad, always in mixed units.
Common Taboos
Deliberate rudeness is unconscionable to a Gnome, so much so that it's been known for them to apologise for 10 minutes or more for causing even the slightest of offence to another Gnome, they understand the other races don't have the same social taboo to rudeness as they so cut it down to five minutes for the most part
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Gnomes get on with all of the goodly races, they love to make new friends, depending where they grow up depends greatly on the race with whom they get on with best, a Gnome that grew up in Valantar will get on best with humans, especially Valantari, where as a Gnome who grew up in the Great Forest of Ghum, will get on best with Sylvan and Wild Elves as well as Forest Folk Haflings
