Elfkuun

The Elfkuun are by all accounts a race of the Light but also one with a very vengeful and dark heart, that come from a very dark time in Hamanshiron's history, when the Dark actually ascended to be the power in the world, Eskadoria still bears the scars of that 3 ages later where most of the continent is dominated by the Dark races.   During the height of the War, a clan of Orkuun overran an Elf Stronghold and began mating with the Elven men and women, making half-orc, half elf children that were used to do all the work the Orkuun didn't want to do, which was pretty much everything menial.   They are a race apart bred from Elf and Orkuun, over 300 hundred years, a subjugated race. They aren't half-Elves or Half-Orkuun that they were when the first of the race was born, they are an amalgam of High Elves and Orkuun and a little bit of throwback to the Aledel that the Orkuun were first bred from.   For 300 hundred years, they watched the Orkuun, learned everything about their overseers, how they fought, how they lived, how they behaved in every situation, and they had numbers on their parents and they rebelled, killing the Orkuun. Any Elves that remained after the Orkuun were killed were taken in by the other Elven Kingdoms and lived quite lives until their deaths.   Their children however kept the Stronghold that their race was born in, the Peak of Taurnoio, which 3 ages later is the largest Stronghold of Elfkuun as the race was dubbed. But they have spread throughout the world building settlements and communities among their Elven Kin and Humans. Many clans serve as soldiers in human armies, and as shock troops for their Elven kin's armies.

Biological Traits

Elfkuun retain many of the facial features of the Orkuun, the ears of the Elves, with much of the quickness and strength of their parent races.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Elfkuun names tend to be amalgimations of Eledhel and Orkuun names like Ovutperious or Ellisonbitai, very rarely are they definately Elven or Orkuun

Beauty Ideals

Elfkuun tend to hold up those of their race with smaller tusks, more Elf like ears, less prominent jaws, but with darker skin as the icons of beauty of the Elfkuun race

Gender Ideals

For the most part Elfkuun believe that males and females are of equal standing, except when it comes to childrearing, then they believe that it's the mothers job to look after the children, this particular belief is going out of fashion but is more prevalent in the Strongholds than the clans

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Elfkuun is a language that takes from both Eled and Oruk, in equal measure, though some of the clans speak a language closer to Eled, than even full Elves do

Common Etiquette Rules

Elfkuun never sit with their back to the door and will take great offence to anyone who sits at a table with them and does, they deem anyone who does so is looking for an easy and quick exit so don't trust the Elfkuun to not try and hurt them.

Common Dress Code

Elfkuun dress is always practical, form fitting and incorporates at least some form of armour

Culture and Cultural Heritage

Elfkuun are war like, but also artisans, and as such much of their art is based around battle, statues posed in armour, frescoes of Elfkuun warriors defeating Orkuun. But also in their armour and weapons is their artistry seen.   Every Elfkuun is taught to wield a sword or spear almost from as soon as they can walk, by the time they can carry a shield they have mastered the sword and spear. Their arcane magic tradition is combat orientated, that which isn't is to heal and protect those who have been hurt in combat in order to get them back into a fight.   How the Elfkuun are organised depends entirely on the type of Elfkuun you are dealing with, the Stronghold Elfkuun are generally ruled by the descendants of the High Elf nobility that spawned them, taking power because of power and influence they have over the rest of the nobility, though this never lasts more than a generation or two, their power and influence having waned over the two or three hundred years their family have been in power.   The Clans are not normally more than a dozen or so interrelated extended families that never stay in one place for more than 20 or 30 years, normally for a litter of their young to be born and grow up, and then they are off again. They are normally a democratic collective, the person that you speak to is normally just the person who is in the best position to deal with you at that time, if they are being friendly it will be the nice motherly Elfkuun nearing middle age, if they perceive you as a threat to the clan then it will be the fully armoured warrior with their sword drawn and twenty archers behind them ready to fill you full of fletchlings. Take your cues on the situation and how to deal with them from who you are dealing with

Common Taboos

The Elfkuun will not touch anything that has been in the hands of anyone who has any connection to the Dark, they think touching anything related to the Dark can contaminate you with the Dark. Which is why until they get to know you they will not touch you in anyway, they won't shake your hand unless they are wearing gloves, won't help you if you are wounded.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Elfkuun get on with everybody that doesn't serve the Dark, even Neutral people, they love their Eledhel cousins, always happy to see them, they respect the Dwarven warrior spirit and the Gnomish ingenuity, the Halfling wanderlust, the Valkani sense of duty, the Orangkucing sense of family, and the human ability to get so much done in such a short life.   On the other hand if you are a servant of the dark or you lean towards the dark they are liable to want to stab you, and stab you dead.
