Session 42 - Like Moths to a Flame

General Summary

Onboard the ship, Finn recieved a message from Adam briefly describing their situation. He passed this on to the rest of the party, where John Dungeons believed they should ask the Marcian general they had, Francis Hague. Unfortunately, the General refused, demanding that the summit take place exactly as planned. Finn sent the message back "Cannot comply due to BOB, on our way now, don't get in water, ship slightly damaged, proceed as planned, good hunting". Adam and Jurgen debated what to do, but realising that because the horse they had brought had been killed, they would have to teleport. They went back up to the chamber with the crystal above them, where Jurgen drew the circle, and they teleported onto the ship, crystal in tow.   They arrived in the middle of a candlelit vigil, where Finn was finishing a speech of mourning. Dungeons dragged them into a side room to explain what had happened to each party. Jurgen went first, telling them what happened in the lab. Dungeons then sent the general out of the room and whispered to Finn to ask if he could slow the ship down so people could get a long rest, which he said should be possible. Yaldranth then started to explain what happened to them. After leaving Westport, they found the Marcian ship being attacked and followed by an unnatural storm. They managed to evacuate the ship and also take a few automotons and cannons with them. As they tried to leave, the storm caught up with them and was revealed to be a gargantuan sea serpent. They had to use part of the power of the crystal powering the teleportation circle to escape, and managed to keep ahead as they kept going to Westport. On the way, they were attacked by some two headed eagles. In total, they lost several members of martyr and titan squad. All of the party began to get some rest, with Yaldranth waking early to take command of the ship temporarily until they arrived.   About an hour before they arrived, Yaldranth had gone down to get a bit more rest, when he heard a knock at his door. A crew member came in to tell him that Westport was under siege. Yaldranth sighed and gathered the rest of the party to discuss what they should do. The attack seemed to have only just begun, with hordes of creatures battering the walls. They decided to send a blue flare to signal plan A, prepare for evacuation. In reponse they got a green flare, apparently all was well in the city so far. As they were still an hour out by air, they decided to finish their rest, while Yaldranth would keep watch for any changes.   As the rest concluded, the party gathered on deck to the sound of flapping wings. Off the side of the ship they could see a swarm of what looked like giant moths. John Dungeons managed to snipe one of the larger ones out of the sky, it exploded with a shock of electricity that seemed to damage the ones around it as well. The rest of the swarms gathered around with the ship. Fortunately the moths were a lot slower than the ship and so quickly fell behind. However, more moths soon appeared over the horizon, including some kind of flaming moth. The moths released a mass of spores over Finn and titan squad, blinding all but Finn. Simultaneously, the fire moth released a fireball onto the deck where Adam, Yaldranth, and Jurgen were standing.   Finn spat the moth dust out of his mouth and yelled for Yaldranth to stop the ship momentarily. After doing this, he shot a net towards the moths, who were now bunched up in front of the ship. Yaldranth fired a flaming arrow at the net and caused all the moths to instantly explode. Finn then shot the flaming moth, hitting it with a flash of searing light. Yaldranth also kept firing at the flaming moth, trying to kill it before it could burn up the ship. Finn ran forward, shooting a continuous ray of ice-cold energy that froze the flaming moth solid, before he tapped it with his hammer and caused it to shatter.   With the battle over for now, Adam and Jurgen went below deck to grab more water to put the fire out. The party then looked down at Westport to see how the situation had changed. While the outer wall had been breached in several places by minotaurs and other larger magical creatures, the rest of the inner city seemed to be holding strong. At one outer gate, they could also see a large horde of animals, all being held back by a single person, Garry.
