Session 39 - Calm Before the Storm

Finishing downtime, Yaldranth trained with Garry, John Dungeons trained with martyr squad to get better with using his gun in close quarters. He accidentally broke it but luckily Finn was able to fix it. Adam trained with Jurgen, Yaldranth, and Finn, to learn more about fighting magic users. Near the end of the week, Finn gave everyone a presentation on how to fly the ship, no one really understood except for Jurgen and a crew member.   Afterwards, they decided to investigate the fis hin the warehouse. Adam asked around town and found it was owned by a merchant who didn't exist, and the deliveries had recently ramped up, all delivered from Waterdeep but with no known destination. Finn looked closer at the fish, finding that they had all been spiked with some kind of magical substance that would activate after the fish was eaten, causing it to attract other creatures to swarm the area. John helped Yaldranth look around the area, trying to find traces of other people. They found tracks sneaking into other warehouses, where other food supplies had also been spiked. He was able to follow the tracks outside the city which appeared to lead to some kind of base.   The party remembered the flute that had been recently stolen with the ability to control creatures, and the sea right outside the town which might harbour very large creatures. Finn immediately ran to get the ship airborn, then joined Yaldranth in talking to the local sealife. Meanwhile, John and Adam went to tell Frederick what they had found, and to suggest a change in their plans.   Yaldranth was able to broadcast his message to the entire harbour. Most fish immediately swam away, however one remained believing that he was talking to fish god. Finn got annoyed as the fish talked about his friend with cancer, deciding to grill them as they swore vengeance on Yaldranth. Finn then found an octopus, and was able to get it to tell them about the Pallid Serpent stirring under the sea. He then grilled the octopus as well.   Adam and John discussed the situation with Frederick, deciding to pick up the Marcian envoy with the flying boat, while changing their plans to focus on fortifying the keep rather than the whole city in case it became overrun with animals.
