Session 38 - A Fishy Situation
General Summary
John Dungeons snuck inside the warehouse, ready to attack if something threatened the squad he brought. Yaldranth fired a flaming arrow at the spiderdrake, while Adam stuggled against it and managed to stratch its side. In retatliation, the drake slammed him the crate below, causing his concentration to slip and his spell to dissipate. The crate broke underthe stress and released a flood of fish that caused Sonia to slip and fall.
Jurgen ordered martyr squad to look around to see if anything was hiding in the warehouse, but couldn't see anything. The enemy cast a spell, then semeed to turn around and run back towards the group. Jurgen realised this was an illusion, the real spellcaster had disappeared somewhere. Finn commanded his homonculus to shock the drake, which also gave a jolt to Adam to help wake him up.
John Dungeons looked around the room, and managed to spot a shimmer where the wizard had been before, revealing that he hadn't moved from casting the spell. Yaldranth ran foward and conjured a barrage of arrows to hit the drake and the wizard. Adam was slightly caught in the crossfire, but the attack succeeded in forcing the wizard to become visible again. The spiderdrake seemed very badly hurt at this point, and spewed poison gas towards Yaldranth, catching Finn's homnculus as well, though it was unaffected thanks to being a construct.
Jurgen ordered the squad around him, and to fire at the wizard, but they were a bit unnerved by the situation and missed their shots. The spellcaster looked around desperately, realising his situation wasn't looking good, and sent vines of necrotic energy towards Adam as he started to run away. Jurgen tried to warp the vines away, but the wizard countered and forced them to reach their target. Luckily, Adam's celestial heritage managed to resist enough of the rot to avoid passing out. Jurgen sent a fireball hurtling towards the fleeing foe, sending additional energy stored from his counterspells, before sending his summoned hand flying after them to try and grab him again, though he once again escaped.
Back with the drake, Finn once again used his homnculus to attack, sending another shock of electricity through it. This was enough to fry its brain and cause it to slam into the ground. Jurgen was able to cast feather fall to slow Adam's descent so he wasn't immediately crushed. When Adam stood up, something seemed off about him, and Yaldranth felt a strange sensation as he entered his aura, and told him to calm down as he healed Adam. Adam breathed, thanked him, and chased after the wizard. When he caught up, he stabbed them through the shoulder, intending to just disable them for later questioning. This unknowingly triggered a hidden glyph of warding that blew them up in a burst of thunderous energy, crumbling into a pile of snow.
Adam told Jurgen what he had seen, and they started to investigate the area. Yaldranth realised there was far too much fish, and it had all been ordered recently. Jurgen again said that he thought this was a distraction, so Adam ran off to check on the city and Alpates. The others followed soon behind, and when they returned found Alpates unharmed. However, Frederick told them that someone had managed to break into their vaults and taken a flute that had originally belonged to anther Thay general.
