Session 35 - A Busy Downtime

Finn, Ben, John Dungeons, and Jurgen started basic repairs on the ship. Finn tried to hire someone else to help, but labour was too expensive.   John Dungeons sneaks into the Starseer's chamber after following the old man through town. Yaldranth met with Frederick to discuss ???, Dungeons presence was sensed so he emerged to negotiate by giving information about the assassins, including that he didn't think they were Marcian because they didn't use those kinds of necromantic magics. He asked Yaldranth to cast Zone of Truth on him and explained his belief that the assassins were Lucerian, attempting to implicate Marcia in hopes of turning the tides of the war. Frederick thanked him for the information, and agreed to help with boat repairs in return for providing protection to Alpates for the next few weeks until a summit with the leader of Marcia.   Finn was walking down the halls with Bill, who was cooking fish while explaining the pressurisation process of the gas being used by the flamethrower. Joined by Jurgen, they started to discuss improvements to the ship, including better weaponry, defences, and some kind of escape route. They arrived at the Starseer's chamber and saw everyone, including John Dungeons. Finn once again yelled at him, but Frederick explained the deal they had, and asked how much they would need to fix the ship. Finn started giving increasingly higher amounts, ending at 600 GP. Frederick realised he was extorting him, but sighed and agreed.   Adam had been talking with Crick and Alpates about the assassination attempt. Alpates said she knew the healing hands that Adam had used, and revealed that she might also be an aasimar. Adam was a bit shocked and used Divine Sense, revealing that she was in fact, though she had yet to activate much of her celestial heritage.   In the coming weeks, John Dungeons took charge of security for the summit, which included learning the name of the fighter who almost killed him: Garry. The representative from Marcia would be coming by sea with only a few guards. He also sent some people to request the aid of mages from the nearest town. He asked Jurgen to investigate the tower to see if there were any hidden mechanisms they could use. Finally, he announced his greatly exaggerated death to the Harpers and asked them for aid with getting reinforcements.   Meanwhile Jurgen sent a letter to Brent from Securitas, telling him that the mirror they had taken from Birdcliff had been taken by Bjorn. He then also sent a letter to Underbridge, advising them of their current situation and what they had learned under Overbridge. He also helped Finn fix some of the ballista around the town, and approached Ben to discuss breaking the taboo on teleportation magic by adding a teleportation circle to the ship.   Finn kept going with the repairs to the ship, enlisting help from the people John Dungeons had rallied. Once the hull was fixed he started trying to add ballistae to the ship to increase its defence. Finally, he was able to created an awakened plant named Bob, which would serve as navigator and part of the attitude control system.
