The Liiohtians are a race entwined with the history of Fae and Demon, descended from an ancient union of the two. Their heritage grants them a unique connection to both light and darkness, allowing them to manipulate these forces in ways that make them formidable and versatile. Their skin is a rich blend of deep blues, purples, and dusky hues, reminiscent of a fading sky at dusk or dawn, shimmering faintly with an inner light tied to the time of day.
Physical Appearance
Liiohtians are slightly ethereal in appearance, their eyes often reflecting the phases of the moon—glowing faintly in dark periods and taking on a more subdued gleam in daylight. Their hair tends to mirror the hues of the twilight sky, ranging from silver streaked with blues to deep violet, and it sometimes shifts subtly with the time of day. Their skin can appear to subtly glow or darken based on whether they’re in light or shadow, but this effect is more magical than camouflaging.
Traits
Twilight Magic – The Liiohtians possess innate magical abilities tied to the cycles of light and dark, inherited from their Archfey ancestor. Their powers shift subtly depending on whether they are in periods of daylight, twilight, or darkness:
Daylight
During periods of bright light, they can manipulate ambient light to create illusions, dazzle opponents, or focus beams of intense light as a weapon. They may bend light around them to create mirages or distort the appearance of objects or people.
Twilight
When the light softens, their powers shift toward balance and manipulation. They can subtly influence the flow of shadows and light, enhancing vision or creating pockets of obscured visibility. They are most powerful at dawn and dusk, where their magic can blend the boundaries of light and dark, making them excellent at illusions, misdirection, and battlefield control.
Darkness
At night, their demonic powers are more prominent, granting the ability to manipulate pure darkness, using it as a shield or as a means of enhancing their physical speed and strength. Their ability to see in the dark is unparalleled, and they can summon tendrils of shadow to bind enemies or enhance their stealth.
Fae Connection
The Liiohtian trace their origins back to a powerful Archfey known as Ilysse, the Mirror of Mornlight. It is said that Ilysse's union with a Demon created the first Liiohtian; whether the act was one of rebellion, lust or love is still at the heart of the Liiotian rituals and way of life.
The Liiohtian revere Ilysse as both ancestor and divine figure. While they have mostly integrated into society, many of their rituals and festivals still honor the cycles of day and night, and they believe their power is greatest during the twilight hours when the influence of their Archfey blood is strongest.
While they are not as capricious as their Fey ancestors nor chaotic as their demonic patronage, the Liiohtian are known for their cunning, their ability to navigate social complexities with ease, and to end threats to their own with vicious efficiency .
Society
They are respected for their magical prowess, particularly their ability to shift the battlefield with their manipulation of light and shadow. however, their exotic origins and unnatural apperance leads many to be wary of approaching. Liiohtian often become powerful illusionists, tacticians, or guides. In human societies, they can pass for exotic travelers, and their subtle magic allows them to blend in easily, often taking roles where their ability to manipulate perception is an asset.
