Fuscarium

Fuscarium is used as a material spell component for a practical school of magic called Fuscomancy. THis school's spells are designed to weaponize the metal to devestating effect.

Step 1: Harvesting the Ore Fuscarium is a black metal made from a rare ore found in meteorites. Any exposure of the ore to sunlight ruins its ability to be used. Miners must take precautions to ensure no sunlight touches the ore, often working under cover of darkness.   Step 2: Transport to Refinery Method: The ore is transported in specially designed, light-proof containers to a dark refinery or forge, usually located underground or in perpetually shaded areas.   Step 3: Crushing and Grinding The raw ore is crushed and ground into a fine powder using heavy, enchanted stone grinders. This process is typically done in darkened, dust-free chambers to prevent any exposure to sunlight.   Step 4: Initial Purification The powdered ore is mixed with alchemical reagents such as black salts, shadowroot extract, and nightshade essence. The exact proportions are a well-kept trade secret. The mixture is placed in large cauldrons and gently heated over low, smokeless fires. This step is overseen by skilled alchemists who chant incantations to draw out impurities and infuse the material with dark energy.   Step 5: Smelting The purified powder is then moved to an antechamber where it is melted in shadow-fueled furnaces. These furnaces burn using enchanted, shadow-infused coals or darkwood. As the ore melts, it is stirred with rods made from Obsidian to ensure consistency.   Step 6: Molding and Cooling The molten Fuscarium is poured into molds and then the molds are placed in deep, cold water baths infused with nightbloom petals and dark crystals. This helps solidify the metal while maintaining its magical properties. The most commons mold shape is cylinders of about 6-inch length.   Step 7: Final Enchantment The cooled Fuscarium is then taken to a sacred forge where it undergoes a final enchanting process. Tools: Special hammers and tongs made from nocturnium are used to shape and temper the metal, infusing it with its final magical properties.
